Beautiful cats all around the world find their way to shelters, not because it’s their fault, but because of circumstances beyond their control. Unfortunately, not all cats will have a happy ending. However, the story of two Seal Point Siamese cats from Western Cape, South Africa shows that it is possible to find a purebred cat at a shelter. If you have your heart set on a specific breed but want to give back by adopting a cat, consider contacting your local shelter or breed-specific rescue because you just might get lucky!
How did Blue and Ozzy become a part of your life? In February 2019, I adopted Blue from the Cape of Good Hope SPCA. He was surrendered at just five months old due to having snuffles. After coming out of isolation, I saw him and immediately fell in love with his unique eye color, which is how he got his name. Ozzy, on the other hand, was a stray cat that showed up on my doorstep one day and never left.
Around nine months later, I felt that he was a bit sad and lonely, so I started searching for another rescue siamese cat, which is quite hard to find in our area. Thankfully, Capetonians Against Animal Abuse does amazing work with cats and kittens, and I received pictures of Ozzy from them. I adopted him in December 2019, and he earned his name because he’s quite the wild child. He has a unique cross-eyed look, and it’s a miracle that he can see straight!
Meet the adorable Baby Ozzy!
How did you first meet Blue and Ozzy and what is their dynamic like? Could you describe their personalities? What are their favorite hobbies? Is there anything unique about them that you would like people to know?
Blue and Ozzy get along pretty well, although they’re not the type of friends I had hoped they would be. They don’t take turns bullying each other playfully or anything like that. Both of them get jealous sometimes, but generally, they’re not very confrontational.
In terms of personality, Blue is definitely a typical cat. He’s regal and aloof with everyone except me. He’s calm and more restrained, and he loves to be the king of his domain. On the other hand, Ozzy is a total love bug. He adores food and cuddles and craves attention and playtime. He’ll jump around without worrying about how he looks, and he’s not particularly clever.
As for hobbies, Blue likes to lounge around and watch the world go by, and Ozzy loves to chase toys and play with anything he can get his paws on. Overall, they’re both unique and special in their own ways, and I’m grateful to have them in my life.
